Our story

Where Mekhala Chambers began

Mekhala Chambers was established in Bangkok by practitioners who noticed a consistent gap in the market: individuals navigating the Social Security system and pension disputes often had difficulty finding legal support that was both substantive and unhurried. The larger firms were occupied with corporate work; the smaller advisory services lacked the depth for contested proceedings.

The chambers were founded to address that gap directly. By limiting the practice to pension and Social Security matters, the team could develop a degree of familiarity with the relevant authorities, procedural norms, and the Social Security Tribunal that general practitioners rarely develop.

Since opening, Mekhala Chambers has assisted clients across a range of circumstances — from those who received an unexpected demand letter and needed a careful response, to those who chose to pursue their matter through to Labour Court proceedings. The approach throughout has remained the same: proceed with clarity, keep the client informed at every stage, and allow the matter to develop at a pace that the client is comfortable with.

The chambers are situated on Sathorn Road in Bangkok's Bang Rak district, accessible by the BTS Surasak station and familiar with the administrative geography of the Social Security Office's regional structure.

Our Mission

To provide substantive, transparent legal support in pension and Social Security matters — without pressure, without jargon, and at a pace determined by the client's own circumstances.

Our Values

  • Clarity in every communication
  • Respect for the client's autonomy
  • Transparent, fixed-scope engagements
  • Professional discretion at all times
  • Measured, unhurried counsel

Our Focus

Mekhala Chambers does not attempt to cover every area of law. This practice concentrates on pension defence and Social Security dispute work — which allows us to bring depth rather than breadth to each client's matter.

How we work

Professional standards & practice protocols

Thailand Law Society Compliance

All practitioners are registered with the Lawyers Council of Thailand and operate within the professional conduct framework applicable to legal service providers.

Client Confidentiality

All client information, correspondence, and case details are handled under strict legal privilege protocols. We do not disclose client information to any third party without explicit consent.

Written Engagement Terms

Every engagement begins with a clear written scope confirming what is included, the fee, and what happens if the matter changes in scope. No ambiguity at the outset.

Regular Client Updates

Clients receive written updates at each meaningful stage of their matter. We do not leave clients uninformed about the status of their case for extended periods.

Data Protection Standards

Personal data is handled in line with Thailand's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA). Client records are stored on secure, access-controlled systems.

Ethical Billing Practice

Fees are fixed per service scope and agreed in advance. No time-based billing uncertainties. Additional costs arise only from third-party disbursements, which are always communicated before they occur.

Pension dispute support in Bangkok — what that means in practice

Navigating a dispute with the Social Security Office is seldom straightforward. The procedures are formal, the correspondence is dense, and the stakes — often a pension that a person has contributed to throughout a working life — are significant. Mekhala Chambers works with clients at each stage of this process: from the first letter acknowledging a demand, through to the preparation of materials for a tribunal hearing.

The Social Security Tribunal in Thailand operates within a defined procedural structure. Understanding that structure — the timelines, the evidentiary standards, the role of mediation — allows Mekhala Chambers to advise clients accurately about what is achievable and what is not. We do not overstate what the process may deliver.

For many clients, the matter resolves before a tribunal stage. A well-drafted response to the Social Security Office can, in some circumstances, prompt a reconsideration of an initial decision. Where informal resolution is not achievable, negotiated settlement offers a middle path that avoids the cost and duration of contested proceedings. Our practitioners assess which path is most appropriate based on the specifics of each client's situation.

Mekhala Chambers serves both Thai nationals and international residents working or having worked in Thailand, whose pension contributions and entitlements fall within the Thai Social Security framework. The Bangkok location allows us to attend the Social Security Office and associated court facilities in person when required.
